The training this year is not going great. I’ve been randomly injured at the end of 2023, now recovered but never got back into the groove. I’m also working on another project besides work that makes it hard to fit in training, it’s simply of lower priority than everything else. I keep fasting and don’t gain (or lose) weight so there is not as much incentive to train, except losing muscle mass.
The other day I sat down to think what the main reasons were why I wasn’t training. Apparently I thought it took too much time, with an hour to a full session. I’ve always struggled to train consistently. I find training useful, but not pleasant—I like the results, but not the process.
I want to run another experiment.
Problem
I don’t train often enough. The training log for this year is almost empty.
Proposed solution
Cut down my training cards to about 20 minutes active time each, so that a full training session takes 30 minutes.
Expected result
Training more often, I’ll be happy with 5 times a week. It’s doable because I’ve done it before.
Timeframe
Starting now (22/02/2024) and until the end of March 2024.
Results
Five times a week! More like five times a month. I have more excuses why I didn’t train (I got sick, probably because I didn’t train consistently for so long) but the approach itself is great, it’s a no-brainer to train for half an hour in total. It’s enough to create a 200–300 calorie deficit and increase metabolism for most of the next day.
I’ll keep using the adjusted training cards.
